Emile Cahuzac’s sketchbooks
We found a true treasure at the Ceccano Library of Avignon.
In the Thirties, Mr. Cahuzac (deceased in 1935), former land credit manager in love with our cultural heritage and strong advocate of its preservation, drew the Virgin Mary statues on the facades. Looking nowadays at his sketchbooks is a glimpse in the past, colorful curtains on the windows, climbing ivy, ochre walls…
On the 30th of May 1936, the Calvet museum bought the sketchbooks from his widow for 100 Francs (approximately 73 Euros).
